React Native + Expo Go Weeks 4-5

Week 8 of documenting my app development learning journey (June 8 - June 21)

This Week’s Goal:

Get Expo Go to successfully display on my phone.

Last week’s Accomplishments:

I downloaded a simple app provided by my Coursera course, and I experimented with it through Snack and VSCode, only to find out that I couldn’t deploy it onto my iPhone because of package depreciation or something…

After a long week of virtual classes, I managed to get back to work for a bit.

Back to the trenches.

So I took a different approach, which basically comprised of more Google searches vs relying solely on giving screenshots to AI.

I didn’t have my phone on me this time, though, so when I thought I had successfully updated expo, I didn’t know if it will truly work on my phone.

I don’t have much time either, since I have a week-long summer camp to attend next week.

I tried yet again, only to slam into the same error codes that I always have been running into.

Also, given that I just came back from a summer camp yesterday and I haven’t had time to focus on app development for so long, I believe it’s taking a toll on my level of focus in this endeavor. Additionally, I fell behind on a couple of my summer online courses due to me being so busy this week.

Given this, I will be taking a break from app development until mid-July, probably, so that I can fully focus on this project when I am more free.

Looking forward to finally getting to display my test app on my iPhone, hopefully soon 💔

Special Thanks:

To anyone who’s still reading this newsletter, I really appreciate your support, especially because I have been struggling to document all of this on top of all of my other summer projects and things…

Thank you guys <3
