This Crappy Old Mac!
Week 4 of documenting my app development learning journey (Mar 16 - Feb 22)
Last week…
I was really busy last week, but I did review the main components of an iOS app (I got ChatGPT to make an analogy for me, because I learn better with them)
Thursday, March 20th
Still trying to install Xcode…
So I checked my storage (who knows what my mom has saved over the years on her old Mac?)
Ok, so it seems that my storage is ok.

For context, Xcode takes up about only 3 GB.
But, this crappy old Mac still isn’t updated enough to where it still can’t download Xcode yet:

WHAT?! This Mac is crazy old!
…and it may never be able to catch up, I think.
Hopefully, I can still get some use out of this old piece of aluminum.
Saturday, March 22st
So, it turns out that I have two choices here if I want to continue pursuing iOS app development:
Acquire a Mini Mac and use that (although it would be stationed at home and I can’t really bring it around easily)
or,
Buy (or convince my parents to help me buy) a refurbished Mac (a decent one) via Treecard (yes, I care about the environment!).
I’m thinking of the latter 🤔
Accomplishments
Found out that my mom’s old Mac is not good enough (to be more specific, it can’t update to a recent enough update) to support Xcode…sad
Since I will be looking for a better device for me to code on for app development, I will be on about a 2-4 week break, to try to find one. I’ll make sure to post related pictures of my journey to buying or finding one!
Also, as of right now, it’s nearing peak robotics season (First Robotics Competition), which means that I will be super busy .-.
I’ll get back to you guys as soon as I’m able to.
